Since our inception in 2015, the Pieta Wren Run has enjoyed huge growth and has donated c. €35,000 solely to Pieta. Over 2,000 participants attended our event in East Galway in 2019. With the expansion, we have been able to attract participants from beyond our own immediate area, with participants travelling from Galway City & County, Clare, Limerick, Tipperary, Offaly, Westmeath, Roscommon and Mayo. This serves to highlight the connections our event makes with people, not just locally but all over the West of Ireland, in Munster and the Midlands.

The Wren Run is just one part of our activities on the day. The other is the Wren Rising, which is a collection of traditional music sessions that takes place in multiple venues across Woodford village after the Wren Run. For these ‘Trad sessions’, local groups of musicians donate their time playing music to raise funds for Pieta. The Wren Rising has been a fantastic success for us and attracts c. 500 to our 3 venues throughout the day.

We are continuing our honored tradition in 2020 with the Pieta Wren Run returnsing for its 5th year on 26th December. To accommodate this year’s unprecedented circumstances and to ensure people remain engaged and safe, we have taken the decision to take our annual 3km/6km Walk, Jog or Run, virtual.

You can register to take part or to show your support; along with automatic entry to the event, everyone that registers will be entered into our Monster Draw for some incredible blue chip prizes such as a stay at the 5 Star Adare Manor Hotel or the fantastic Armada Hotel in Spanish Point, retail vouchers plus loads more! Why not put the Pieta Wren Run on your to-do list for 2020 and REGISTER now.

Entry Fees: Single Child (U-16) €5 / Single Adult €15 / Family (max 2 adults and max 5 Child U-16) €30. All proceeds are split between Pieta (50%) and local beneficiaries (50%) to invest in local well-being facilities and initiatives.
